In trying economic times, small business are looking for ways to make their advertising dollars go the extra mile. There are many cost-effective marketing initiatives that come to mind such as social media marketing, targeted direct mail and referral programs. However, there is one that most often gets overlooked – joining a local business association.

Some shy away from these organizations because they feel it will take too much time and don’t feel like taking on another project. What most people don’t realize is that even if you never go to a breakfast, trendy happy hour or mixer, never serve on a board or agree to do fundraising your business can still benefit from being apart of a chamber, business organization or trade networking group.

Favorite past-times for many young girls is playing with dolls and reading Bible stories. The inspired creative team at TheFreedomGirls.com have developed a line of products designed to bring both to the hearts and minds of young girls all over the world.

The Freedom Girls is an active children’s ministry designed to facilitate parents in the efforts to provide children with the knowledge that the Lord knows them personally and by name (Jeremiah 1:5, Exodus 33:17 and John 10:3). The first product consisting of a contemporary story about RUTH and an accompanying doll was unveiled earlier this month in Austin, Texas with rave reviews.

Over the past year, J2O Designs had the pleasure to be apart of the start up efforts and has assisted with corporate branding, web design and social media consulting.

The staff at J2O Designs is pleased to welcome new client, Bulls-eye SBT, a business of champions.

For over four decades, the Bulls-eye SBT brand has been the power and genius behind some of the most famous Staffordshire Bull Terriers in history. This special group of champion canines will soon receive the rock-star treatment that they deserve. The champions will be honored with a website showcasing each Bulls-eye champion as well as a social media campaign to celebrate the breed and the people behind the scenes  that have made winning a way of life.

Business is changing. The internet and social media sites (Facebook, Twitter, YELP and YouTube) offer new opportunities that businesses only dreamed about in years past. Social media sites allow businesses to increase brand awareness, provide customer service, generate new leads and drive traffic to the company website, products and services.

Facebook alone boasts 400 million active users where each day more than 20 million people become fans of business related pages. With overwhelming numbers like these, it’s no wonder that research shows businesses backing off aggressive print and billboard campaigns in favor of strategies that encourage direct contact with customers and prospects through the company website and social media platforms.

At J2O Designs, we feel that small businesses are in a prime position to attract big on-line attention. No matter your profession or product line, with the right website and social media marketing strategy, we know that you can have a standout year even in this tight economy.

Marketing Initiatives Working Together

Posted by: Jim Odom in Blog

Tagged in: marketing

As small business owners we are approached every day by energetic sales people promising us foot traffic and increased sales. It's tough to know which way to turn and where to invest limited advertising dollars to generate the largest return.

Humor me and join me in a quick exercise. Let’s identify all of your possible marketing initiatives. Your list might look something like this:

Web Site
Print Advertisement
Commercial
Billboard
Special Events
Direct Mail
Facebook
Twitter
YouTube
Promotions/Discounts
Online Directory

Ok, now let’s prioritize them based on success…....

hmmm…You’ve seen a pick up in business since the last direct mail campaign….facebook brought in that awesome lead last month….the commercial is great and you’ve received a lot of nice comments… it’s difficult arrange the list in order of importance....

Now, rather than trying to prioritize,  arrange your cards like the spokes on the wheel. What out of all of these should go in the center? If you're smart, you will say your website…that’s right the company website.

All of the initiatives are imperative to small business marketing but one is not more important than the other. All of them working together like spokes on a wheel keeps a business  moving forward. However, if you think about it, it’s the website that is the hub that all roads lead to. You can’t accept credit card orders on Facebook or YouTube. You can’t communicate everything about your business on a direct mail postcard or billboard. But what you can do is make a great impression in these spaces and provide your URL to give those interested a central location to learn more about your business.

We always encourage our clients to put their URL on everything….promotional merchandise, direct mail, vehicle signage, social media….you get the point. It always baffles me when I see a small business advertising in a slick magazine that cost thousands of dollars but doesn’t have a website or even worse, has a website but doesn’t include the URL on the magazine ad. (You know who you are). Having an active marketing strategy in place is great but don’t forget to drive traffic to the resource that has it all…your website.
